Welcome to our first e-newsletter. A journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step. In the beginning of 2008, the road towards scaling up of Palliative Care across our country looked dim as a result of everything that was taking place in our beloved country - post election violence. We had laid out big plans for the year. However, the zeal and hardwork of our staff, members and partners kept us going. We started by taking single steps and it is this stoicism that helped us in achieving our laid down goals wide-ranging from advocacy, education and training in order to create awareness about KEHPCA. We held a walk and the first Palliative Care conference in Kenya later in the year which was all a huge success. I take this opportunity to thank everyone who walked with us in our journey of 2008 and supported us in one way or another. Thank you very much and I wish you a great 2009 and I look forward to working with all of you as we continue to provide care to our patients and their families.
